I decided to make the most of the sun today and head out for a walk. There is an Adlington Circular Walk signposted around however this is instead the ‘RivingtonPike.com Adlington Circular Walk’. Not necessarily better; just different. This is a great walk to go on if you live in Adlington and want a fair length walk without the terrain of going up Rivington. It takes in the sights of Upper and Lower Adlington, a stretch to the Leeds to Liverpool Canal as well as Anderton and the edge of Rivington. Below is a map showing the walk.

Adlington Circular Walk

The walk takes you from the middle of Rawlinson Lane just off Westhoughton Road by Ellerbeck Canalboats, along the canal, through Adlington and Anderton, via the edge of Rivington, back through Adlington then back to the start. The length of the walk is approximately 7Km (4.5 miles). Just before you go back onto Chorley Road from the fields at the top of Adlington you will have to go through a farm which I believe to be called Gregory’s Farm, although it does not look like it there is in fact a public footpath running through this farm so you will not be trespassing.

I also took a few photos during the walk which I will link back to this page.

It would be great to hear some feedback on the walk, you can let me know via The RivingtonPike.com Twitter Account or via info@rivingtonpike.com

If you enjoy the walk please share this page with friends; we have Facebook and Twitter buttons on every page.

The map route was created by myself using the Memory-Map Software.
