Walks Through Adlington

Posted by on Jun 10, 2013 in Entry Level, Information, Walk | 0 comments

TweetI have lived in Adlington for around 5 years now and only recently have I discovered some of the rural walking and cycling routes which Adlington has. I discovered the area through Geocaching.com and I will be sharing some of the walks over the next few weeks. The area is in between Chorley Road (Adlington top road), Babylon lane, Long lane and Chorley Golf Course. They provide some good views of Rivington as well as serving as a short cut to reach the Rivington area. Walks on RivingtonPike.com are sponsored...

Short Walk Around Rivington Reservoir

TweetThis is a simple flat walk which is great to do at any time of the year. If you are arriving by car you are best parking in the car park just after the Rivington Primary School (located on the opposite side of the road to the bowling green, the first right turn on Horrobin Lane after you cross the reservoir. From this small car park there is a small steep pathway (on the right as you enter the car park), just head down this path into a wooded area with a pathway which runs parallel to the reservoir. If you keep walking through here you will pass Go Ape and rune parallel to...

Ride up Rivington

Posted by on May 21, 2012 in Admin Post, Advanced, Bike, Entry Level, Intermediate, Rivington, rivingtonpike, Winter Hill | 0 comments

TweetI have just got back from a mountain bike ride up Rivington. I have started going both up and down the ice-cream run (the road up to the Pigeon Tower which you can access by going up Sheep house Lane and making the first right (not too fart after the cattle grid)). This road is designed for hikers, off road drivers and fairly experienced mountain bikers. It is near enough impossible for me to cycle up here but it provides a really direct way up to the pike. If you are looking for a fast/direct route then this is a great way to go, otherwise I would recommend going up to the top of Sheep...
