TweetWe have had a few people searching the site who were wondering how suitable Rivington is to go walking up. In general, as long as you keep to the main footpaths you will not have an issue with going on walks around Rivington. The paths are mostly mud, stone or cobbles so providing that it isn’t too frosty and there hasn’t been too much rain you should be fine. Rivington is a great place for families to go walking, you can go on walks of all different lengths and difficulties. If you are after an easy walk just park at the upper barn and walk straight up to the pike...

Posted by on Mar 4, 2012 in Admin Post, Entry Level, Feature, Rivington, rivingtonpike, Walk | 0 comments

TweetWe know that Easter is still a bit away but it will creep up on us quickly so we are announcing a competition to write an Easter walk for the website. The winner will be decided by the highest number of star ratings. The walk should be descriptive enough for people to follow, it can include maps and pictures as long as you have to right to use them. For traditional reasons it should include a walk by the Pike itself. It should ideally be achieveable by families. You can enter walks which you have perviously entered to the website (if doing so re-post the walk). Your Easter Walk post...

TweetThere are many people who regularly go cycling around Rivington  who are very experienced riders, there are also many people who would love to go around Rivington on a bike but choose not to as they do not really know what to expect. When I first went cycling around Rivington on a bike I wasn’t a very experienced cyclist but I was willing to give it a try. I had a heavy framed bike with little suspension but I thought I’d give it a try. All I took with me was my phone and a bike helmet both of which I would highly reccomend bringing. I set off from Adlington way to get...

We are thinking of planning a walk on boxing day around Rivington (not nescessarily as a group but the same walk so we can share something of interest). So I came up with an idea, if you would like to enter your Winter Walk send it in as normal, you may have noticed the rating system so score all of the Winter Walks and the one with the highest average number of votes will win. I would aim to make the...
