Ride up Rivington

Posted by on May 21, 2012 in Admin Post, Advanced, Bike, Entry Level, Intermediate, Rivington, rivingtonpike, Winter Hill | 0 comments

TweetI have just got back from a mountain bike ride up Rivington. I have started going both up and down the ice-cream run (the road up to the Pigeon Tower which you can access by going up Sheep house Lane and making the first right (not too fart after the cattle grid)). This road is designed for hikers, off road drivers and fairly experienced mountain bikers. It is near enough impossible for me to cycle up here but it provides a really direct way up to the pike. If you are looking for a fast/direct route then this is a great way to go, otherwise I would recommend going up to the top of Sheep...

Posted by on Feb 20, 2012 in Admin Post, Blog, Entry Level, Event, Feature, Intermediate, Rivington, rivingtonpike, Walk | 0 comments

TweetWe know that Easter is still a bit away but it will creep up on us quickly so we are announcing a competition to write an Easter walk for the website. The winner will be decided by the highest number of star ratings. The walk should be descriptive enough for people to follow, it can include maps and pictures as long as you have to right to use them. For traditional reasons it should include a walk by the Pike itself. It should ideally be achieveable by families. You can enter walks which you have perviously entered to the website (if doing so re-post the walk). Your Easter Walk post...

Up Sheep House Lane To The Pike

Posted by on Dec 9, 2011 in Bike, Intermediate, Rivington | 0 comments

TweetThis is quite a difficult bike ride, if you know the area you will know that sheep house lane is very long and steep and you will know that Wilderswood is no the easiest terrain but if you are a competent cyclist you should be able to deal with it. Start off at the top barn and head past the car park towards sheep house lane and go through the gate which takes you onto sheep house lane, alternativly you could just go up though Rivington up sheep house lane, Keep heading up sheep house until you reach the top, once at the top you will have Old Belmont Road to the right of you, head down...
